Advertising has become an inseparable part of our lives, and yet it is impossible to get used to it. What types of advertising irritate Internet users the most?
Pop-up windows appear to be the most unwanted method of web advertising: 78% of users have a negative reaction to them. This data is based on the research conducted by Rumetrika.
Banner ads, which finish in second place, annoy only 7.6% of users; video commercials make 6.6% of users unhappy, and context advertising – only 3.6%.
4% of users are indifferent to all types of advertising, states Openspace. According to Rumetrika’s research, 3.4% of users click on web advertisements to purchase goods or services. Having said that, the biggest web advertisers are still automobile brands and mobile service providers.
The share of context advertising in internet in 2008 amounted to 58-59%, with a possibility to increase up to 62-65% in 2009.
In 2008 the online advertising market has grown by 55%, or 5.7% of the entire advertising market. It is expected to rise by 16-18% in 2009, and in 2010 its volumes could exceed 30% growth.
